Venus Insomniac
Your drank your coffee you liked it black
Like all the other girls
Who sway their hips with the ways of the world
Will they ever come back
Will they ever come back
Power falls from my hand these days
People take it in mysterious ways
And I swear the ground quakes my name
But I’m just one woman, trying to carry that weight.
Tryna carry that weight
It’s a painful labor
I’m always on my back
Trying to become someone, the world cant crack.
Will I ever bounce back?
will I ever bounce back?
Power falls from my hands these days
People take it in mysterious ways
And I swear the ground quakes my name
And I’m just one woman, trying to carry that weight.
Tryna carry that weight
Tryna carry that weight
I sway my hips with the ways of the world
Will they ever come back?
will I ever come back?

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
